travel directions
FROM BRISTOL AIRPORT
Take a taxi, bus, or car via A38 to central Bristol.
Approx 6 miles. NB: "Airport Taxis" (logo on the side) are twice as expensive as
ordinary ones, which are sometimes to be found near short-term 10-minute car park
100 yards to the left.
FROM UK BY ROAD
Follow M5 or M4 to where they cross and 1 mile
east is the M32 into central Bristol.
FROM HEATHROW (LONDON) AIRPORT
Follow M4 as above to M32 as
above, or take a direct coach. The coach station is marked on location page.
BY TRAIN
To Temple Meads Station, then take a taxi, or no. 8 or 9
bus for the centre. Direct taxi to "the top of Corn St": this is barely half a mile, so don't let him take you the long way or charge more than £4.00.
parking
This is a 17th - 18th century city centre so none of the buildings have
parking spaces attached. It can be difficult up to 6:00 in the evening.
If not using your car, the paying zone end is about 20 minutes walk away in the area of Cotham or Clifton.
PARKING AFTER 6:00 PM
1) The immediate vicinity, Corn St, St Stephens St, St Nicholas St, Baldwin St and Queen Charlotte St. Cost: £1.60 for the night, or, single yellow lines, nothing (Queen Charlotte St).
2) Redcliffe St: just over the Bristol Bridge and turn right, is free after 6:00. To access Redcliffe St. (no right turn) drive past, through lights to right filter lane at 100 yds. Turn right and immediately right again to return to Redcliffe St.
Single yellow lines are indicated on the map below:
DAYTIME PARKING
I would recommend the following car parks. Click on the individual names to view info and location.
These are Bristol City run and cost £6.50 per day. Prices are reduced to £5.60 by buying tickets in advance from: Parking Services at Wilder House, Wilder St.
Also The Galleries is the nearest but it is an NCP so more expensive, and it closes at night.
